Portside is offline-first. Your data belongs to you.

What's stored on your device

  • Vessel names, call signs, IMO numbers
  • Port names, arrival and departure dates
  • Rank held and session sign-on records
  • Coordinates you enter
  • Offline map regions you download

All of this stays on your phone unless you turn on Cloud Sync.

Cloud Sync (optional)

If you create an account, your vessel records are transmitted to and stored on Supabase servers so they can be restored on another device. Only your email address and vessel records are sent. Nothing else.

You can use Portside entirely offline without ever creating an account.

What we don't do

  • No analytics
  • No advertising
  • No tracking
  • No third-party SDKs
  • No selling or sharing your data

Location

Portside asks for location permission only to center the map on your position and to fill in coordinates when you tap "Use current location." Your location is never stored, transmitted, or shared.

Offline maps

When you download an offline region, tiles are fetched from OpenFreeMap's public server and stored on your device. No personal information is sent during this process.

Data deletion

You can delete your account and all synced data at any time from within the app: Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes your user record and all vessel records from our servers.

Local data stored on your device can be cleared separately from Settings → Storage & Data.

If you cannot access the app, you may also request deletion by emailing support@portside.work from the address associated with your account. Deletion requests sent by email are processed within 7 days.

Children

Portside is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will appear on this page and in the app.
